When and How to Switch Solar Club Rates
A practical guide to timing your seasonal rate switches.
Rate switching works best when it follows your own production cycle, not just calendar dates. Many homes switch around spring and fall, but your timing should be based on when your home becomes net-exporting or net-importing.
How to decide switch timing
- Review monthly import/export from the last year.
- Mark months where export exceeds import.
- Switch to your higher export-focused rate before sustained net-export months.
- Switch back when imported power starts to dominate again.
How to execute the switch
- Log in to your retailer portal or My Account.
- Open rate options and select the solar or microgen section.
- Choose the effective date carefully.
- Confirm and save the change request.
- Set a reminder to verify the first bill after the switch.
Important: Avoid switching too frequently. Use data-driven windows and do not react to one unusual month.
